| BURN
SCAR: This young girl suffered a
severe burn resulting in a massive contracture of scar between her face and shoulder as
shown. We removed the contracted scar and applied skin grafts to her neck. The second
photo shows her appearance one year later. She now has full range of motion of her head
and neck. |

EAR: This young boy was born with an ear deformity known as a cup
ear. Surgery on such ears is quite complex. We did an otoplasty (reshaping of the
ear), resulting in a more normal appearance. |

| ABBE
FLAP: This young man was born with a
double cleft lip, which was repaired years ago. His upper lip was thin, tight, and badly
scarred. We performed an operation called an Abbe flap, which transfers a
segment of the lower lip to the upper. This adds more bulk to the upper lip and produces a
better balance between upper and lower lips. His lips now have normal function for speech,
eating, etc. |

| SINGLE
CLEFT LIP: This 3 month old was born
with one-sided cleft lip and cleft palate. We did a cleft lip repair. The repaired side
is, by design, slightly shorter than the normal side. This is done because the repaired
side will grow a little faster over the next two years to match the normal side. When he
is about one year old, we will repair his cleft palate. The deformity of the nose has been
partially corrected during the lip repair. When he is older, we will do a rhinoplasty to
make the two sides of the nose more symmetrical. |

| MACROSTOMIA: This young girl was born with a wide mouth a
condition called macrostomia, in which the corner of the mouth does not
develop properly. We joined the muscles of the lip to reconstruct the corner of the mouth,
and closed the gap in her cheek. Her mouth and lips now function normally. |
